The Philippines

The Philippines, otherwise known as the Republic of the Philippines are located in Southeast Asia in the Western Pacific Ocean. After speaking with some people from the Philippines, I was surprised to her that the republic consists of 7,107 different islands! It is however divided into three geographical areas- Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The nation is surrounded by neighboring countries, such as the Republic of China, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Palau. The Philippines is the only Southeast Asian country that shares no land borders with its neighbors. Their capital city is Manila. Filipino is the primary language on these islands, with English being a close second. 

Did you know? The Philippine flag is the only flag in the world which is hoisted upside-down when the country is in war.
