Finland

This post is for Inari, a citizen of Finland who I was grateful to speak with. She taught me a lot about the country, and wanted me to share it with my viewers because in her words "Some people do not even know Finland is a country." And thats the point of this blog! To get other people to see that their country is only a small part of what the world really is. And we can always learn more about our neighbors around the world.
Finland's flag was designed to have a white background for the snows of Finland and blue for its lakes. The blue was in the form of a "Nordic cross" similar to those used by nearby Scandinavian countries.

Finland is a European country, located in the northern part of the continent neighboring Norway, Russia, and Sweden. The capital of Finland is Helsinki. In terms of area, it is the 7th largest country in Europe, however its population is very small because 85% of the land is covered by forests and lakes.

Did you know? Finland is a constitutional republic and became a member of the European Union in the year 1995.
